Até $3.500/ano em contrapartida governamental

Government Contributions

  • Canada Disability Savings Grant (CDSG): Up to $3,500/year in matching grants (300% match on first $500, then 200% on next $1,000)
  • Canada Disability Savings Bond (CDSB): Up to $1,000/year for low-income (no personal contribution needed)
  • Lifetime grant limit: $70,000
  • Lifetime bond limit: $20,000
  • Personal contribution limit: $200,000

Requirements

  • Must have Disability Tax Credit (DTC) approval
  • Must be under 60 to open
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must be a Canadian resident

Provincial Treatment

RDSP treatment varies by province:

  • BC, NL, Yukon: RDSP fully exempt from asset and income tests
  • Saskatchewan: RDSP assets fully exempt; income exempt up to low-income threshold
  • Other provinces: Varies — check your province's specific rules

Why Open an RDSP

Even if you can only contribute $500/year, the government will add $1,500 in grants — that's a 300% return. For low-income individuals, you don't need to contribute anything to receive the bond.

Step 1: Get Your DTC

You need DTC approval before you can open an RDSP. If you haven't applied yet, start there.
